1. Description of Service

SimpleTab is an expense tracking and sharing application that helps people record shared expenses, calculate who owes what, and coordinate settlements. It is available on iOS, Android, and the web at simpletab.app.

SimpleTab is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not process payments directly; we only provide information to help you settle debts using third-party services like Wealthsimple or Interac.

2. Your Responsibilities

You agree to use SimpleTab only for its intended purpose: tracking and sharing expenses with people you know.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your Google account used to sign in
• The accuracy of the expenses, amounts, and receipts you upload
• Ensuring you have permission from other group members to share their information (like names and email addresses) within the app
• Handling any actual money transfers through external payment providers safely and accurately

3. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

• Use SimpleTab for any illegal activity or to facilitate money laundering
• Upload fraudulent receipts or create fake expenses
• Harass other users through group names, expense descriptions, or profile data
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt SimpleTab's services or API
• Use SimpleTab to track expenses for people without their consent

4. AI Receipt Scanning

SimpleTab uses Google Gemini AI to parse data from your receipts. While we strive for high accuracy, the AI can make mistakes. You must review every scanned expense for accuracy before saving it. SimpleTab is not responsible for financial discrepancies caused by inaccurate AI parsing.

Access to AI scanning may be subject to limits based on upstream provider availability, technical constraints, or fair use policies. We do not guarantee that AI scanning will be available at all times or for all users.

5. Intellectual Property

The SimpleTab name, logo, code, and design are owned by us. Your expense data and receipts belong to you and your group members. By uploading content, you grant us a license to store and display it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and your group.

6. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or delete your account if you violate these terms. You can stop using SimpleTab and request account deletion at any time by emailing privacy@simpletab.app.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

SimpleTab is provided without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the calculations will always be 100% accurate. You use the service at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SimpleTab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or any loss of money, data, or reputation arising from your use of the service.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Canada for any dispute arising from these terms or your use of SimpleTab.

10. Abuse and Fair Use

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for abuse of our systems. This includes, but is not limited to, attempting to circumvent AI usage limits, uploading non-receipt images to the scanning service, or any activity that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.

Violation of these fair use policies may result in immediate and permanent account suspension without prior notice.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app. Continued use of SimpleTab after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
